Newcastle Disease Resolved in Azerbaijan

AZERBAIJAN - The veterinary authorities have just reported a single case of the velogenic strain of Newcastle disease virus to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The veterinary authority in Azerbaijan has sent an Immediate Notification to OIE regarding a single case of the velogenic strain of Newcastle disease virus.

The case – in the Siazan region in the east of the country – started in mid-February and was described as resolved on 23 March. According to the report, 1.3 million 27-day-old broilers were affected, of which 1,390 died and 24,579 were destroyed.
