As a result of an agreement made in June DanHatchA/S has taken over a minority stake in Hama Plus S.A.

Combined production potential of the two companies exceeds more than 180 million day-old broiler chicks annually.

The aim of the deal is to secure a further dynamic development of both companies on the Polish and the European markets and continuously to improve the quality of products offered.

The cooperation between the companies is considered to generate added value to the clients on the various markets. Increased product availability, broader offer of services and combined know-how and exchange of experiences of the two producers is seen as an important target in the daily cooperation with the clients, thus seeking to strengthen production outcome.

The joint activities of Hama Plus S.A. and DanHatchA/S will also focus on intensified cooperation with Polish breeder farmers aiming on improving the quality of their products and optimizing the production performance.

Both entities will continue operating under their current brand names.

Hama Plus S.A. is the largest producer of day-old broiler chicks in Poland with annual sales of approximately 50 million day-old chicks. The headquarters and hatchery facility is located in Stary Widzim in western Poland.

The company operates in an integrated system with hatching egg production, hatching, distribution of chicks and rearing of broilers. The total process is based on permanent quality control and professional technical advice on every production level. Hama Plus is a partner not only for the individual producers but also for integrated poultry companies.

DanHatchA/S with incubation facilities located in the Northern and the Southern part of Denmark is among the largest suppliers of day-old broiler chickens in Europe.

The company produces together with a range of external hatching egg producers above 180 million broiler hatching eggs and this quantity forms the basis of a annual sales volume of 125-130 million day-old chicks, of which 10-15 million are exported.

The turnover of both companies was in 2008 approximately €70 million and they employed around 200 people.
