Pilgrim's Pride Moves Production Between AL Plants
ALABAMA, US - Pilgrim's Pride is to move much of its production from its plant at Athens to an existing nearby facility at Russellville. The company announced late last month that it would cease production at two plants, including the one in Athens, Alabama.

Pilgrim's Pride, working its way through bankruptcy, will transfer production, equipment and employees from its facility in Athens, Alabama, to the one in nearby Russellville, according to Meatingplace.
The company announced it would idle its Athens plant last month.
Much of the production from Athens to Russellville will move over the next few months, spokeswoman Karla Harvill told Meatingplace in an e-mail. The move includes equipment and an undetermined number of jobs, which will be offered first to current employees in Athens.
Ms Harvill declined to speculate on how many new hires Pilgrim's Pride will make to fill its ranks in Russellville but The Times-Daily in Florence, Alabama quoted county officials as saying that the number could be as many as 350.
