ARGENTINA - By the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). This is a weekly report looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This week's report focuses on Argentina's poultry situation.
Argentina Poultry and Egg Situation
According to USDA FAS data, Argentine broiler production and exports accounted for 1.9 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively of world totals in 2007, which was far behind the US (23.9 per cent and 36.2 per cent) and Brazil (15.2 per cent and 40.4 per cent). However in the first half of 2008, broiler meat and egg and egg product exports increased from 2007 levels. Argentina’s domestic consumption was 1,226,000 metric tons (MT) in 2007.
