Eggs in Incubators on 1 August Down 10 Per Cent from Last Year
Turkey eggs in incubators on 1 August 2009, in the United States totaled 28.6 million, down 10 per cent from 1 August 2008. Eggs in incubators were down five per cent from the 1 July 2009 total of 30.0 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down nine per cent, West North Central down 9 percent, North and South Atlantic down 13 per cent, and South Central and West down eight per cent.
Poults Hatched During July Down seven Per Cent from Last Year
Turkey poults hatched during July 2009, in the United States totaled 25.6 million, down seven per cent from July 2008. Poults hatched were up four per cent from June 2009 total of 24.6 million poults. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down nine per cent, West North Central up one per cent, North and South Atlantic down 14 per cent, and South Central and West down 12 per cent.
Net Poults Placed During July Down Six Per Cent from Last Year
The 24.9 million net poults placed during July 2009 in the United States were down six per cent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were up three per cent from the June 2009 total of 24.1 million.
