Print This Page Bangladesh Reports New Outbreak of HPAI
BANGLADESH - The veterinary authorities have reported a new case of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The Bangladeshi veterinary authority sent Follow up Report No. 20 dated 20 September to OIE.
The report says that the outbreak started on 29 August at a commercial farm at Katroli in Chittagong. Of a flock of 4,000 birds, 53 were affected and died. The remaining birds have since been destroyed.
The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
