US Monthly Egg Products Report - September 2009

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 172 million dozen during August 2009, up one per cent from the same month a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report in September 2009.

Shell eggs broken totalled 172 million dozen during August 2009, up one per cent from August a year ago, but two per cent below the 175 million broken last month.

August 2008 and August 2009 contained 21 weekdays and five Saturdays.

During calendar year 2009 through August, shell eggs broken totalled 1,332 million dozen, down two per cent from the comparable period in 2008.

To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2009 was 1,737 million pounds, down two per cent from 2008.
