BELGIUM - The veterinary authorities have reported another cases of Newcastle disease in a pigeon to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The Belgian veterinary authority sent Follow up Report No. 2 dated 2 October to OIE.
The report describes a case of Newcastle disease in one ornamental pigeon on a hobby farm. It was destroyed, and the post mortem tests revealed the presence of paramyxovirus type 1.
The affected animal is an unvaccinated young pigeon that returned sick to the pigeon house after 14 days being absent. The owner took it to the veterinarian the next day. The other pigeons in the flock of 80 birds showed no clinical signs.
