SPAIN - The veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The Spanish veterinary authority sent Immediate Notification dated 13 October to OIE.
It reports an outbreak of HPAI, which started on 9 October at Guadalajara in Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. Around 30,000 layers died out of a flock of almost 309,000 birds. The remaining birds have been destroyed.
According to the report, the layer hen farm included four production houses – in two of which were clinically affected birds – and a breeding house.
