Turkmenistan reports that the country's first full-cycle poultry complex, Gush Toplumy, has been inaugurated in Baharly district of Akhal province. The complex was equipped with Belgian machinery, including six breeding poultry houses, industrial incubator, nine broiler shops, farmland, feed mill, as well as protein factory, which makes the poultry complex virtually waste-free.

According to the state news agency of Turkmenistan, this specialised private farm is expected to produce 3,000 tons of poultry meat and four million eggs per year after reaching full capacity. In the future, it is planned to build a separate line for production of semi-finished products, canned and other processed products. The complex employs 180 people.

In June 2007, Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, signed a decree with a view to supporting this particular production providing for construction of the agro-industrial complex in Baharly district occupying 30 hectares of land. The document also authorised the allocation of 1,500 and 500 hectares of irrigated land in Akhal and Dashoguz provinces, respectively, for the cultivation of coarse grains.

The President of Turkmenistan attended the inauguration ceremony. In his speech, he emphasised that by the scale of production and level of equipment at Gush Toplumy match international standards. Calling domestic entrepreneurs "the golden stock of the country", the President said Turkmenistan would continue providing full targeted support to development of private businesses.
