A federal grand jury has indicted a North Carolina poultry processor for discharging wastewater, including blood and body parts from slaughtered turkeys, directly into the local water system, according to Fayetteville Observer.

House of Raeford Farms and plant manager, Gregory Steenblock, were charged with 14 counts of violating the federal Clean Water Act.

The indictment accuses the company of bypassing its water treatment system 14 times at its Raeford plant between 2005 and 2006. The wastewater was sent directly to the Raeford publicly owned treatment works.
