Nova Scotia Poultry Plant Sheds Jobs

CANADA - ACA Co-operative is laying off more than 100 staff and workers at its plant in New Minas, Nova Scotia.

ACA Co-operative Ltd., which processes chicken and turkey under the Eden Valley brand, is laying off 96 union workers and 14 supervisors and managers at its plant in New Minas, according to Canadian Press. The company blamed financial losses for the decision.

The company was started in 1943 and is owned by 63 poultry producers in the province.
