Two-Thirds of Cage-Free Eggs Welfare-Certified
US - The American Humane Associated has now certified more than two-thirds of the nation's eggs from alternative (non-cage) housing for meeting or exceeding its welfare standards.

The American Humane Association has announced that two-thirds of all cage-free eggs produced in the US now come from farms and producers that have earned the American Humane CertifiedTM label – a symbol of the nation's premier animal-welfare certification programme.
During the past several months, American Humane Certified has audited and certified 10 additional cage-free egg producers, bringing the total number of cage-free egg farms in the programme to more than 500. American Humane Certified is the nation's first science based animal-welfare programme dedicated to the humane care and handling of farm animals.
Tim Amlaw, director of American Humane Certified, said: "The increase of certified cage-free egg producers indicates a growing consumer demand for humane choices."
