Cambodia Reports One New Outbreak of Bird Flu

CAMBODIA - One new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been reported in the south-east of the country.

The veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No. 1 dated 1 May to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes one new outbreak of HPAI in a flock of chickens and ducks in the village of Peam Sdey in the province of Prey Veng in the south-east of the country.

Of the total flock of 1,167 birds, 954 were affected and 903 died. The remaining birds were destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus has been confirmed.
