World Cup Promotion for Brazilian Chicken

SOUTH AFRICA - The Brazilian Poultry Union (UBABEF), together with the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments (APEX-Brazil), are holding South Africa's first promotion of Brazilian chicken products during the World Cup.

Part of the promotion is a product tasting at a well-known hamburger chain in Johannesburg, which specializes in Brazilian meat.

The Brazilian export promotion agency UBABEF says that a thousand pounds of chicken meat will be served during the World Cup.

Another activity will be the distribution of yellow shirts with the Brazilian Chicken logo and a slogan in English, welcoming the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Leaflets on Brazilian chicken are also being distributed.

Brazil has been the world's largest exporter of chicken meat since 2004 and the African market, which is increasing its consumption has been targeted as a priority in the coming years.

Between January and April 2010 Africa passed the EU as the third largest market for Brazilian chicken.
