US Monthly Egg Products Report - June 2010

US - Two per cent more shell eggs were broken during May 2010 than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totalled 172 million dozen during May 2010, up two per cent from May a year ago, and slightly above the 171 million broken last month.

Both May 2009 and May 2010 contained 21 weekdays including one holiday and 5 Saturdays.

During calendar year 2010 through May, shell eggs broken totalled 817 million dozen, up one per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 1,068 million pounds, up one per cent from 2009.
