The new firm is expected to produce up to 10 million chickens per annum and meet a substantial portion of consumers' needs at affordable prices, reports TradeArabia.

Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro yesterday received Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry food committee chairman Ibrahim Al Daissi who updated him on the project.

He also introduced members of the constituent committee in charge of setting up the company.

They include Bahrain Poultry Farmers' Society chairman Hamza Al Madhoub, deputy chairman Ahmed Al Dawood, secretary-general Ibrahim Al Khair and BCCI food committee member Sami Zainal.

Dr Fakhro reaffirmed the government's support for initiatives spearheaded by the private sector to promote Bahrain's food security.
