US Monthly Egg Products Report - July 2010

US - Four per cent more shell eggs were broken during June 2010 than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totalled 186 million dozen during June 2010, up four per cent from June a year ago, and eight per cent above the 172 million broken last month.

Both June 2009 and June 2010 contained 22 weekdays and four Saturdays.

During calendar year 2010 through June, shell eggs broken totalled 1.00 billion dozen, up two per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 1.31 billion pounds, up two per cent from 2009.
