Revenues from sales of fresh beef rose by 46.8 per cent over 2009 to $407.8 million from $277.7 million.

In July 2010, the sale of beef products has generated revenues of $384.2 million. Sales totalled 101,700 tons, 23.9 per cent more than in July 2009.

Sales of fresh chicken meat increased by 12.2 per cent in volume from 288,800 tonnes in 2009 to 324,100 tonnes last month. This is a rise of 5.5 per cent from June 2010, when 307,300 tons were shipped.

Revenue increased 21.2 per cent compared to July last year (US$448.4 million) to $543.4 million.

The average price of chicken meat exported was US$1,676 per tonne in July 2010, eight per cent higher than in 2009 (US$1,552) and 1.2 per cent higher in comparison with June 2010 (US$1,656).

Unlike other proteins, fresh pork had a weaker performance in the export market. Brazil shipped 38,200 tons in July 2010, down 9.5 per cent compared to July 2009, when 42,200 tons were sold, and 7.5 per cent less than June 2010.
