Export Jump of 37 Per Cent Boosts JBS Q2 Results

BRAZIL - JBS has reported its results for the second quarter (Q2) of 2010, which include net revenue up more than 52 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Among the financial highlights reported by JBA SA are that consolidated net revenues increased 52.5 per cent year-on-year to BRR14,116.3 million in Q2 2010 – an increase of 12.5 per cent compared to the first quarter (Q1).

Net revenues in JBS USA increased by 12.9 per cent compared to Q1 from US$5,116.5 million to US$5,775.7 million, as a result of sales increase in all three business units.

JBS Mercosul's net revenues for Q2 were BRR3,521.9 million, 19.1 per cent higher in comparison to the prior quarter.

Consolidated EBITDA reached the landmark of BRR1.0 billion in the period, an increase of 163.3 per cent year-on-year and 16.0 per cent compared to Q1. EBITDA margin was 7.1 per cent in the quarter.

Operating highlights reported include that JBS USA consolidated EBITDA was $371.2 million, 187.1 per cent higher than the previous year and 40.1 per cent above the previous quarter.

Exports increased by 37.0 per cent from BRR3,049.3 million in Q1 to BRR4,177.3 million in Q2.

Consolidated customer base grew by 22.2 per cent between Q1 and Q2, reaching more than 300,000 customers in the latest quarter.
