US - According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), four per cent fewer turkey eggs were in incubators on 1 October 2010 than the same date in the previous year although slightly more poults were hatched in September than in the same month of 2009.

Eggs in incubators on 1 October down four per cent from last year
Turkey eggs in incubators on 1 October 2010, in the United States totalled 25.3 million, down four per cent from 1 October 2009. Eggs in incubators were down four per cent from the 1 September 2010 total of 26.4 million eggs.
Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 12 per cent, West North Central down one per cent, North and South Atlantic down 16 per cent and South Central and West down two per cent.
Poults hatched during September up slightly from last year
Turkey poults hatched during September 2010 in the United States totalled 22.1 million, up slightly from September 2009. Poults hatched were down four per cent from the August 2010 total of 22.9 million poults.
Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up two per cent, West North Central down two per cent, North and South Atlantic up seven per cent and South Central and West down 15 per cent.
Net poults placed during September up four per cent from last year
The 21.8 million net poults placed during September 2010 in the United States were up four per cent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down four per cent from the August 2010 total of 22.8 million.
