With a range of chicken on offer from many countries, including Thailand, Brazil and other European countries the RSPCA advises that when it comes to buying chicken, the first choice for shoppers should be birds that have been reared to higher welfare standards, such as those labelled with the Freedom Food logo.

Freedom Food naturally advocates choosing chicken that carries the Freedom Food logo – whether that is indoor, free-range or organic – because it is your assurance that the chicken has been reared to the RSPCA's strict welfare standards throughout each stage of its life.

RSPCA says you can will find 'Freedom Food'-labelled chicken in many of the UK's major food retailers, where you can choose a Freedom Food labelled bird to suit your budget without compromising on welfare.
