Poultry Company Collapse Investigated

17 November 2010

AUSTRALIA - The Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industry will review the reasons behind the collapse of two major food producers in the region, including that of poultry producer, Finesse Foods, earlier this month.

ABC News reports that poultry producer Finesse Foods also went into voluntary administration, suspending payments to employees and suppliers.

Chamber chief executive, Andrew Horan, says the collapses will be investigated to determine what sort of impact they will have on food industries in the south-west.

Previously, ABC News reported that two companies that make up Finesse Foods have gone into voluntary administration, leaving employees and local suppliers owed millions of dollars.

Goldfin Enterprises runs a chicken processing facility in Bunbury and Gold Level Enterprises operates an abattoir in Dardanup.

Both companies were placed into the hands of Western Australian Insolvency Solutions. The move affected more than 100 employees and 200 local suppliers.

It could be several more weeks before chicken farmers find out whether they will be paid after the collapse of Finesse Foods, according to ABC News.
