US Monthly Egg Products Report - November 2010
US - Two per cent more shell eggs were broken during October than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totaled 175 million dozen during October 2010, up 2 per cent from October a year ago, but 11 per cent below the 197 million broken last month.
During calendar year 2010 through October, shell eggs broken totaled 1,732 million dozen, up 3 per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 2,243 million pounds, up 3 per cent from 2009.
Data presented in this report were compiled from Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) inspection reports. The best available data at the time of publication were used.
While October 2010 contained 21 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays, October 2009 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays.
