Scientists from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Aarhus have proud traditions in Agro Business Park's Innovation Competition. This year, scientists won prizes for two of their innovative ideas.

It is the third consecutive year that scientists from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences have been awarded prizes in Agro Business Park's Innovation Competition.

In a tight race between 18 highly qualified projects from farmers, manufacturers, students and scientists, one of the winning projects was DNAvigation, which involved research professor, Christian Bendixen, and scientist Lone Bruhn Madsen, both from the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology.

The project concerns genetic testing to be used for individual medication. There is a great variation in individual ability to absorb medicine. Methods have been found to identify this ability using genetic tests. The method is expected to have great importance in the future with regard to correct medication dosage and in the choice of medicines that provide the best treatment for an animal's or a population’s genetic pool. DNAvigation would like to use these technologies commercially.
