The veterinary authority has sent an Immediate Notification dated 17 December to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes the outbreak starting on 7 December at a farm in Nohwa-ri in Chung Cheong Nam-Do. This is the same state where H5N1 was reported to have been found in wild birds last week although some distance away.

In this outbreak, one bird in a mixed flock of ducks and chickens was affected. The whole flock of 110 birds has been destroyed.

The presence of the H7N2 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
