30 December 2010

ISRAEL - An outbreak of Newcastle disease in mature layers has been reported in a new area of the country.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 3 dated 29 December to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes a single outbreak of Newcastle disease at an egg farm at Newe Yamin in Hamerkaz. Around 1,000 of the 2,300-bird laying flock, aged 41-weeks, were found to be affected on 28 December. Ten birds died and the rest of the flock has been destroyed.
