NFU Launches 'Love Chicken' Campaign

UK - As consumers start to feel the pinch, with rising food prices impacting on groceries across the board, the NFU has launched a new campaign to help people get three tasty meals from one whole British chicken.

The new Love Chicken website focuses on recipes and builds on the loyal following of its predecessor; the national Great British Chicken campaign.

We’ve pulled together a comprehensive package of advice and tips, with dietician Rosanna Brighton heading up the health and nutrition information and cookery school chef Jason Palin the star of our step-by-step videos.

As the Head of Dietetics and Development at food procurement company Allmanhall, Rosanna was keen to carry out new research to show that chicken really is a low fat food and an excellent source of protein; key for both growth and repair. Mr Palin, meanwhile, wanted to demonstrate just how versatile the meat is.

NFU Director of Communications Erika Coghlan said: “For many families buying a whole chicken already makes a lot of sense, both in terms of the purse strings and in terms of saving time. What we hope this campaign achieves is to take busy families one step further; using the free recipes from Love Chicken to find exciting and easy ways of making great-tasting dishes from the leftovers.

“The Great British Chicken website already has an impressive following and so Love Chicken is a great way to talk to consumers about how they buy chicken, how they can get more for their money and, of course, about how they can support British farmers.”

The NFU is also using the campaign to remind shoppers to look out for the Red Tractor logo to ensure the chicken’s quality and traceability along the food chain.

And anyone visiting the site will be able to banish those winter blues once and for all by entering the fabulous competition to win a £500 health spa treat.

Budding chefs can also visit the site and post a recipe to win a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher every month.
