Poultry Meat Output up in 2010

UKRAINE - Poultry production was nine per cent higher in 2010 than the year before.

Ukraine increased poultry production by nine per cent in 2010, according to Black Sea Grain. This was reported by Oleksandr Bakumenko, chairman of the board of directors of the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine association.

"We have added nine per cent to the previous year. 1.25 million tons were produced in live weight, and meat output was about 965,000 tons," Mr Bakumenko said.

He added that today, Ukraine produces about 24kg of chicken per capita.

According to the Association, in 2010, poultry imports amounted to 150,000 tons.
