Pig & Poultry Live Will Tackle Consumer Perceptions

UK - Producers and supply chain businesses are showing strong interest in Pig & Poultry LIVE 2011, which will offer a unique insight into what influences consumers' behaviour.

Hosted at Stoneleigh Park on 11 May, this ground-breaking event launched in 2009, is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of England in partnership with leading monogastric nutrition business, ABN.

A live debate on consumer opinions regarding genetically modified feed materials and processed animal protein in livestock rations will kick of proceedings; chaired by BBC farming correspondent, Adam Henson, with an influential panel including Peter Kendall (NFU President), Tim Rymer (JSR), David Gibson (Moy Park) and Rosemary Moon, food writer.

Angela Booth of ABN explained: "The event will maintain its reputation for innovation by introducing a radically different perspective on factors that influence shopping choices. Anecdotal footage gathered from focus group work with shoppers prior to the event will also be shown, and voting technology will allow the audience to have their say."

A networking lunch bringing together exhibiting companies and delegates will be followed by a series of highly focused technical and business workshops. Delegates will have a choice of workshops where topics range from risk management when buying feed to health and welfare.

"The workshops are designed to provide producers with practical information and advice to take home to their own businesses," commented Alice Bell, RASE.

The day will conclude with a final session to discuss the next steps for the industry and how we ensure a more successful and profitable supply chain. Delegates will be invited to have their say with questions to the panel and also an audience vote.

"Pig & Poultry LIVE 2011 will give participants an unprecedented and exclusive insight into the mind of our end customer, together with how we can all tackle the challenges to ensure a long term, viable food supply," continued Ms Bell.
