Business leaders have launched a new advertising campaign pushing for Sanderson Farms, according to abc11. The organisation is in response to big opposition of the plant.

The poultry plant would be built along NC-97 in Nash County. Signs posted by opponents near the location of the proposed chicken plant shows they want everyone to know they think the idea stinks.

"We already got two chicken houses down here and they don't normally smell that bad until you open the doors and air them out, and that's pretty bad," plant opponent, Al Perry said. "So, I take it that a slaughterhouse might be a little worse."

Not true, say those on the other side, citing a mid-summer visit to a similar plant down south.

"We walked all the way around the plant; there was no smell at all," one supporter said.

Meanwhile, there are new signs promoting jobs that the plant could provide for people who need the work.

"Eleven hundred jobs, $100 million initial investment, $5.5 billion over 10 years of economic impact, a $1.5 million weekly payroll," said Skip Carney of New NC Jobs.

According to abc11, opposition to the plant continues from the City of Wilson and some local residents.
