ABARE Outlook: Rise in Poultry Production Expected

AUSTRALIA - An increase in poultry production is expected in 2011-12, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES), in it's Australian Commodities for quarter one of 2011.

The prices of red meats have been forecast to rise, and it is expected that this will result in higher demand for poultry. Poultry production is projected to go up by 3 per cent in 2015-16.

Consumption of poultry meat is predicted to rise by one per cent in 2011-12. A steady rise in consumption per person to 40 kg is forecast for 2015-16.
