HPAI Detected in South Korean Chickens, Ducks
SOUTH KOREA - The South Korean veterinary authorities have reported two new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in chickens and ducks.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 9 yesterday, 17 March.
A total of 2,12,400 birds were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 47 cases and 47 deaths were identified. The remaining 2,12,353 birds were destroyed.
According to the report, there were notifications of HPAI suspected cases from farmers. They were proved as HPAI virus H5N1 subtype in NVRQS. Poultry in the affected farms and in the area within 500 m radius from the affected farms were culled and buried. Disinfection and clinical surveillance in the area within 10 km radius from the affected farms have been intensified.
Some of the outbreaks previously reported were resolved.
The source of the outbreaks have not yet been identified.
