US Egg Products Report - March 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 155 million dozen during February 2011, up three per cent from February a year ago but nine per cent below the 170 million broken last month, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for March 2011.

During calendar year 2011 through February, shell eggs broken totaled 325 million dozen, up five per cent from the comparable period in 2010. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 423 million pounds, up five per cent from 2010.

Data presented in this report were compiled from Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) inspection reports. The best available data at the time of publication were used.

Both February 2010 and February 2011 contained 20 weekdays (including one holiday) and four Saturdays.
