Accompanied by agriculture minister Sergo Karapetyan, the governor of Armavir province, Ashot Ghahramanyan, and poultry farm owner, Khachik Khachatryan, who is a parliament member, the president toured the factory and was told about the production process.

According to Arka, the chief veterinarian of the poultry factory, Agassi Bagdasaryan, told reporters that the farm used to breed parent hens directly on its territory but to avoid various diseases, the complex was built. In the summer of 2010, the company bought about 40 hectares of land in the village of Arevshat and construction started in November 2010.

Dr Baghdasaryan said US$6 million have been invested in the farm, including a $4.5 million loan. According to him, these investments will enable the poultry farm to produce between 5.0 and 5.5 million chickens a year and produce about 6,000 tons of poultry meat. The company plans to invest another $4.5 million in the construction of another farm to grow parent stock and four more farms to preserve and increase the capacity of the incubation plant. The work is scheduled to begin in 2012.

This will create 50 new jobs and production of chicken meat will grow to 11,000 tons, or 65 per cent of domestic demand for chicken meat.
