International Egg and Poultry Review: US

US - This is a weekly report by the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This week's review looks at US regional broiler and turkey exports.

Overall exports on broiler meat were unchanged and turkey meat exports up 47 per cent for January 2011. For January 2011, North America and East Asia, the top two US broiler meat export destinations by region, equalled about 45 per cent of total broiler meat exports. The top two US turkey export destinations by region, North America and East Asia, for January 2011 received about 81 per cent of total US turkey exports.

Frozen leg quarters, the number one item exported in January and 46 per cent of total broiler meat exports, was down 15 per cent from January 2010. Fresh/chilled turkey cuts, the number one turkey item exported in January and 35 per cent of total exports, was up 52 per cent from January 2010.
