India and the Netherlands are set to cooperate in meat and poultry processing in coming years, reports India Online. According to a latest press release from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, India has sent a delegation to the Netherlands to the Product Boards Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE), to understand the Dutch processes relating to meat and poultry processing.

The visit of the delegation will help India's National Meat and Poultry Processing Board (NMPPB) to build understanding of complex, cross-boundary problems pertaining to meat and poultry processing through shared information on the subjects like traceability, advanced knowledge of slaughter lines for buffaloes and goats, meat quality and the development and rearing of specific meat breeds of buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs. India also needs the expertise in greening of abattoir as the meat and poultry industry causing socio-environmental problem in the country.

NMPPB, the first of its kind in the country, was set up to cater to the expanding needs of the Indian meat and poultry sectors and to ensure that the country becomes a global leader in production, consumption and export of safe, hygienic and quality meat products.

The Product Boards Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE), the Netherlands has shown its keen interest in collaborating with NMPPB, the press release added.
