Producers to Receive More Funding

RUSSIA - Poultry and pig producers are to benefit from a further nine billion rubles additional support from the government.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin promised the additional funding in an address to legislators, according to Bloomberg.

Domestic producers now satisfy three-quarters of national meat demand, according to Prime Minister Putin. Russia will import about 300,000 metric tons of poultry in 2011, down from 1.3 million tons five years ago, after the local industry expanded, he said.
