More Newcastle Disease Outbreaks in Israel

ISRAEL - Six new outbreaks of Newcastle disease have been reported, all in the west of the country.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 14 dated 26 April to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes six new outbreaks of Newcastle disease starting between 10 and 17 April in the regions of Tel Aviv, Hazafon, Hadarom and Hamerkaz. Three of the outbreaks were in small village flocks but three were in commercial broiler flocks with birds aged three to five weeks.

In all, 130,079 birds were involved, 10,057 died and 120,022 have been destroyed.

According to the report, some outbreaks are connected epidemiologically through persons or equipment that passed from one farm to another.
