International Egg and Poultry Review: US

US - This is a weekly report by the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This week's review looks at US egg and egg product exports.

Total US exports of shell eggs were up 3,140,528 dozen (25 per cent) in the period January to March 2011 compared to the same time period in 2010.

Exports of liquid and frozen egg products was unchanged in January to March 2011 when compared to the same time period in 2010.

US exports of dried egg products is up 1,113.9 metric tons in the first quarter of this year, 27 per cent more than the same time period in 2010.

Most of the increases in exports in 2011 can be attributed to increased demand in Japan to make up for production lost due to the earthquake and tsunami earlier this year.
