Based on data, total US exports of MSC (HS1602320035) fell 20 per cent from January-April of 2011 (16,075 MT) versus 2010 (20,078 MT). In April 2011, the US exported 3,124 MT, 17 per cent lower than March 2011 (3,765 MT) and 51 per cent lower than April 2010 (6,355 MT). To date in 2011, the top 6 export markets for US MSC remain unchanged from total MSC exports in 2010 (Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Philippines, Panama, and Honduras). Yet in comparison US MSC exports increased from January-April 2010 to 2011 into the following countries: China (+144 per cent), Barbados (+30 per cent), Guatemala (+16 per cent), Panama (+11 per cent), and the Philippines (+5 per cent). In contrast, exports of MSC declined from January-April 2010 versus 2011 into the following countries: Georgia (-54 per cent), Jamaica (-52 per cent), Colombia (-37 per cent), Dominican Republic (-15 per cent), and Honduras (-12 per cent).

By value, total US MSC exports declined 2 per cent from January-April of 2011 ($10,788,000) versus 2010 ($10,996,000). The US exported a total of $2,001,000 worth of MSC in April 2011, 23 per cent lower than March 2011 ($2,607,000) and down 45 per cent from April 2010 ($3,654,000). From January-April 2011, the Dominican Republic was the top export destination of US MSC by value at $3,050,000 with Colombia ($2,005,000) and Guatemala ($1,906,000) following close behind. The same was true for the same time period in 2010 and 2009.
