The annual Biomin Days have long been an inherent part of Biomin’s event calendar and with 134 attending guests from 29 different countries, this edition was a very successful one.

As it is tradition by now the Biomin Days kicked off with a Welcome Dinner on a Wednesday, which was the arrival day for most of the guests. The next day started with a series of presentations at the AGES (Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety) in Vienna.

After CEO Michael Eder had officially welcomed all participants, Leopold Girsch (AGES) talked on 'Feed & Food Safety in Europe', before handing over to Franz Waxenecker whose presentation focused on the Biomin Days' key topic 'Performance – Profit – Planet'. The topics 'Mycofix – Mycotoxin Risk Management in a changing environment' (by Inês Rodrigues), 'Per4izer – the breakthrough in animal growth performance' (by Angela Riemensperger) and 'Benefits of probiotics in animal production' (by Elisabeth Mayer and Andrew Robertson) rounded off the series after which the participants enjoyed their lunch. The afternoon was dedicated to Biomin's research, which was presented by Gerd Schatzmayr at the Biomin Research Center in Tulln, where the visitors were able to see for themselves during the subsequent tour.

The second day of the Biomin Days has always been reserved for application-orientated presentations, complemented by technical product presentations. This dual approach was taken a step forward with the new virtual farm visits concept introduced. In three parallel sessions focusing on ruminants, poultry and swine, a detailed farm presentation in the form of a movie was shown and thorough discussions on various topics related to the respective farm followed. This allowed for in-depth explorations of specific topics.

The social programme on Saturday started with a guided tour through the Vienna Hofburg followed by lunch in Melk where the visitors were able to view the abbey. In the afternoon, a boat cruise on the Danube brought the participants to Dürnstein where they had time to stroll through this scenic small town before having dinner in the Klosterkeller. The traditional fireworks for celebrating Midsummer Night marked the official end of the event.
