US Egg Products Report – July 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 185 million dozen during June 2011, one per cent down on the same month last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for July 2011.

Shell eggs broken totalled 185 million dozen during June 2011, down one per cent from June a year ago, but six per cent above the 175 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2011 through June, shell eggs broken totalled 1,029 million dozen, up three per cent from the comparable period in 2010.

To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 1,342 million pounds, up two per cent from 2010.

Data presented in this report were compiled from Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) inspection reports. The best available data at the time of publication were used.

Both June 2010 and June 2011 contained 22 weekdays (no holidays) and four Saturdays.
