WPC 2012: Abstract Submission Open

BRAZIL - Abstract submission to the World's Poultry Congress 2012 is now open.

Scientific abstract submissions are now open for the biggest event of the poultry industry, the XXIV World's Poultry Congress (WPC 2012), which runs from 5 to 9 August 2012, in Salvador (Bahia), with organization of FACTA (APINCO Foundation of Poultry Science and Technology), Brazilian branch of World's Poultry Science Association (WPSA).

Academics, researchers, professors and doctors interested in sending their abstracts to the WPC 2012 may submit them online [click here].

The abstracts, which must be submitted in three different categories, will go through an evaluation committee responsible for each field of study between 16 January and 28 February 2012. The categories for submission are:

  • Student Programme – In this category will be accepted abstracts of undergraduate and graduate students with up to 30 years old. The programme's goal is to encourage university students to increase interest in research projects in the area of poultry science, with the opportunity to exhibit their work in a global event. The selected students will receive some benefits, such as stay during the WPC in 2012, and tour between 29 July and 5 August 2012 to technical activities in poultry poles in southern Brazil.
  • Young Scientist – Young scientists, recent graduates, under 35 years, who have masters and/or PhD and were born in developing countries may submit their abstracts in this category. It is a unique opportunity to display work of early career researchers in the largest gathering of technical poultry industry.
  • General – Researchers interested in submitting their abstracts to the WPC 2012 and do not fit into either category above, can apply for the exposure in this category.

After pre-selection, there will be a distinction between projects (which will be presented orally) and those who will be displayed on bulletin boards at the Convention Center of Salvador. The work will be seen by an estimated audience of 9,000 visitors of the XXIV World's Poultry Congress, including technicians, producers, entrepreneurs and experts from all continents.

The distribution of oral presentations participants will be made respecting the field of the scientific programme prepared for the WPC 2012, with themes of great importance for egg production and chickens and chicks slaughter and processing, such as nutrition, health, animal welfare and genetic , among others.
