Hefty Fine for Chicken Wholesaler

MALAYSIA - A wholesaler has been hit with a fine of 10,000 ringgit (MYR) for charging more than the ceiling price for chicken.

A poultry wholesaler in the Bera district has been fined MYR10,000 for selling chicken higher than the ceiling price of MYR6.35 per kg for the festive season, according to The Star of Malayisa, citing a report in Bernama.

Pahang state Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Department director, A. Aruwan Abdul Aziz, said the wholesaler was selling chicken at MYR7.20 per kg.

He said: "We received complaints from the public two days ago. After inspection at the Kerayong poultry market, our officers found the wholesaler selling the birds at a higher price."
