Marfrig Creates Keystone Foods Latin America

BRAZIL - Brazilian meat processor, Marfrig, has created Keystone Foods Latin America – a company dedicated to the production, marketing and distribution of food for the food service channel in Brazil.

The move is to enhance and expand the company's service in Brazil to restaurant chains and cafeterias, kitchens and shops.

Keystone Foods Latin America is a subsidiary of Keystone Foods and will concentrate all business and operations dedicated to food service that are available in the Brazilian operations of Marfrig and Harvest Beef Brazil.

The products that will make up the portfolio of Keystone Foods Latin America are already part of the product portfolio of Marfrig (Seara and Beef).

The company said that Keystone Foods Latin America will gradually assume the integrated management of logistic storage and distribution of finished products (dry, refrigerated and frozen) in the Internal Market and Harvest Beef Brazil. At present they operate with different distribution logistics' systems and structures.

The Brazil Cattle division, all the commercial and administrative staff of the Food Service channel, the distribution centres of Santo André (SP), Indaiatuba (SP), Trough (SP), Porto Alegre (RS) and other depots will become part of Keystone Foods Latin America.

The Seara division will be absorbed into the commercial and administrative sector of the Food Service channel including the units of Braslo Braslo Osasco and St Matthew, the agroindustrial complex Itapiranga Birds (Die Farm, Hatchery, Feed Mill and Industrial Unit), the 14 distribution centres and other logistics depots and their refrigerated storage and transport teams.

Together, the production units have a total production capacity of 200,000 tons a year of processed products.
