US Egg Products Report – September 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 182 million dozen during August 2011, three per cent more than in the same month last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for September 2011.

Shell eggs broken totalled 182 million dozen during August 2011, up three per cent from August a year ago, and one per cent above the 180 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2011 through August, shell eggs broken totalled 1,391 million dozen, up two per cent from the comparable period in 2010. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 1,800 million pounds, up two per cent from 2010.

August 2010 contained 22 weekdays (no holidays) and four Saturdays, while August 2011 contained 23 weekdays (no holidays) and four Saturdays.
