The organisation has teamed up with Army Families Federation for a Turkeys for Troops campaign where farmers will donate turkeys to be distributed at their local barracks.

They will be shared with army families who have felt the impact of the sacrifices made by soldiers in service of their country.

The AFF is the independent voice of army families and works hard to improve the quality of life for army families around the world on any aspect that is affected by the army lifestyle.

The NFU has asked seasonal turkey producers to donate turkeys for the campaign and interest has been high, with farmers more than willing to show their support for the brave work of British troops.

NFU poultry adviser Chris Dickinson said: "This campaign is a great way of promoting such a hardworking charity which makes a real difference to the lives of thousands of army families in this country.

"It has been very pleasing to see how keen our members have been to donate turkeys and show their support for the initiative but we are keen to get as many donations as possible."

If you would like to support the campaign, donate turkeys or find out more please contact Chris Dickinson on email or by phone on 024 7685 8622.
