Monthly US Turkey Hatchery Report

US - According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), three per cent fewer turkey eggs were in incubators on 1 November 2011 than the same date in the previous year and two per cent more poults were hatched in October 2011 than in the same month of 2010.

Eggs in incubators on 1 November down three per cent from last year

Turkey eggs in incubators on 1 November 2011 in the United States totaled 27.6 million, down 3 per cent from 1 November 2010. Eggs in incubators were up 1 per cent from the 1 October 2011 total of 27.2 million eggs.

Poults hatched during October up two per cent from last year

Turkey poults hatched during October 2011, in the United States totaled 22.4 million, up 2 per cent from October 2010. Poults hatched were down 3 per cent from the September 2011 total of 23.2 million poults.

Net poults placed during October up two per cent from last year

The 21.4 million net poults placed during October 2011 in the United States were up 2 per cent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down 4 per cent from the September 2011 total of 22.3 million.
