South American Broiler Meat Production Higher in 2011
SOUTH AMERICA - Total broiler meat production in South America from 2001 to 2011 is estimated to have risen 81 per cent, according to the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).

Brazil's broiler meat production from 2001 to 2011 increased 97 per cent. The increase is seen in the country's share of production within the last decade - 70 per cent in 2001 to 77 per cent in 2011. As for Argentina, the second largest producer of broiler meat in South America, a 95 per cent increase has been noted within the same time frame, that is, from 2001 t0 2011. Broiler meat production in the country comprises 10 per cent of South American production in 2011.
All in all, in 2011, broiler meat consumption in South America increased 67 per cent since 2001. Consumption in Brazil and Argentina increased 81 and 71 per cent respectively.
According to estimates, South American imports dropped by 611 per cent since 2001. The broiler meat imports in Brazil from 2001-2011 have been minimal, while Argentina too witnessed a 58 per cent decline.
Total accumulated broiler meat exports from the US to South America rose 55 per cent during the 2001-2011 time frame. Since 2001, an increase of 187 per cent in South America's exports has been estimated. While Brazil's share of broiler meat exports dropped from 97 per cent in 2001 to 91 per cent in 2011, Argentina's increased from 1 per cent to 6 per cent within the same period.
